Flamingo Gardens

Flamingo Gardens was established in 1927 and is one of the oldest botanical gardens and attractions in South Florida. It is the premier Everglades Learning Center and South Florida Wildlife and Botanical Sanctuary. It’s mission is to provide education about the natural and cultural heritage of South Florida and the Everglades with their botanical gardens and wildlife sanctuary.

It features over 3,000 species of rare & exotic, tropical, subtropical, and native plants and trees and is home to the largest collection of Florida native wildlife including a black bear, bobcats, otters, hawks, eagles, peacock, and of course, flamingos.

The sanctuary also houses threatened or endangered species such as the American alligator, American snapping turtle, Florida burrowing owl, wood stork, bald eagle, and Florida Panther which now serve as animal ambassadors to educate the public about the Everglades.

Flamingo Gardens produces excellent educational shows several times a day to tell visitors about various animals at Flamingo Gardens, including live animals that allow visitors can get close-up views.
